On Tuesday, the Government of Romania, the Ministry of Environment together with the European Economic and Social Committee and the Permanent Mission of Romania hosted a United Nations event entitled “Involving the civil society in the monitoring of the SDGs”. This event aimed at showing how the organized civil society could be better involved in the implementation of the SDGs at national level, and how civil society could contribute towards a more qualitative follow-up of this process. Romania presented its National Voluntary Commitment as well as showcased how local level governance mechanisms are achieving sustainable cities to meet some of the SDGs. A panel of speakers from the government, businesses, trade unions and NGOs engaged into a productive debate on experiences, lessons learnt and various approaches of civil society involvement in SDGs monitoring. The RABC president, Stefan Minovici was one of the keynote speaker.
