The Longest Running Romanian Show on Broadway An event for the Records Book

rdb

Twenty-three editions and 72,000 participants! Indeed, this is an all-time record for “the Longest Running Romanian Show on Broadway”, the Romania Day Festival!

We started this journey back in the year 2000, and only missed a couple of editions – due to COVID. Now, we can state with few, or no challenges, that our event remains the largest gathering of Romanians in the world, outside the country’s borders.

Last week, we enjoyed a beautiful day, indeed. All present and attending paying homage to a great, inspiring, precious, sacred and eternal country.

On Sunday, June 16, we were people draped in tricolors. Red, yellow and blue. No political insignias on Broadway at this festival. No divisions, no fighting and bickering. Proud, happy, united, devoted, patriotic and dedicated Romanians.

This event was about a labor of love and passion, as we are all so fortunate to trace our roots and origins to one of the most fantastic countries on Earth. It is not just the geographical and natural beauty, breathtaking and overwhelming, but our kindness, generosity, determination, and stamina that has kept us going and getting stronger for more than two millenniums now.

This event on Sunday, would have been impossible to produce and complete without the help, support and contribution of our Romanian Embassy in Washington DC. A heartfelt thank you to our formidable, one-of-a-kind ambassador, H.E. Andrei Muraru and his talented team. It took the embassy twenty-three years to join us, but how sweet this moment feels! Same degree of appreciation goes to Her Excellency Mihaela Simona Florea, our consul general of Romania to New York. We recognize the support of Mr. Dorian Branea the director of Romanian Cultural Institute in New York! Eternally grateful to our sponsors from Carmen SA Corporation with their industry leading culinary marvels, Litalsi, some of the best Romanian wines we tasted, brought by VITRUVIAN S.A. HiSky Airline the only airliner offering direct flights to New York from Bucharest, Epure Lizac Law Firm, Mount Sinai International, Balkanica Foods, MMD, Minovici Medical Development, and many others.

Our festival was also made possible by a complex RABC team who tirelessly in selflessly man and women who managed to this extraordinary project to fruition.

When Romanians get together and believe in what they do, the results are spectacular and unprecedented. Lastly, I want to thank my family, especially my wife Cristina and my sons, Luca and Matei. God bless you all as I look forward to seeing you again at our 24th edition of Romania Day Festival on Broadway – in 2025.
