Romania’s Vice Prime Minister & Minister of Environment Visit the RABC Headquarters

H.E. Gratiela Gavrilescu, Vice-Prime Minister and Minister of the Environment paid an official visit to the RABC headquarters on July 18, together with one of her predecessors, Hon. Laszlo Borbely, State Counselor and Coordinator for the Department for Sustainable Development for the Government of Romania. They were accompanied by H.E. Ion Jinga, UN ambassador to the United Nations, Valentin Pipa and other RABC Board members. The delegation was in New York for a series of hi-level bilateral meetings with several counterparts. The senior Romanian delegation and the RABC leadership discussed new programs and initiatives that the Council is able and willing to undertake in order to mitigate the crisis of waste management in Romania. New funding and technology is available in the United States and Europe and implementing urgent environmental protection measures in the country is a condition sine-qua-non in order to avoid a national crisis.
