Meet the Co-Chair of the Romanian Caucus, Congressman Mike Turner (R-OH) on his first one-on-one get-together with our RABC Board. Congressman Turner will visit Romania the week before our event where he will meet with Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos, President Klaus Iohannis and leaders from the Defense and State Security apparatus.

Mike TurnerCongressman Turner currently serves as the Chairman of the House Armed Services Tactical Air and Land Forces Subcommittee which oversees ammunition programs, Army and Air Force acquisition programs, all Navy and Marine Corps aviation programs, National Guard and Army and Air Force National Guard and Reserve. Turner’s chairmanship ensures that America’s soldiers and airmen are fully equipped to carry out their mission.

In January of 2011, Mr. Turner was appointed Chairman of the US Delegation to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Parliamentary Assembly the inter-parliamentary organization of legislators from the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance. In December of 2014, Turner was elected President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.

PAST EVENT

On Monday evening June 6, The Council organized a fundraising event in honor of Congressman Mike Turner (R-OH), the Co-chair of the Romanian Caucus in the House of Representatives.

Attended by dignitaries like H.E. Dr. Ion Jinga, the Permanent Representative of Romania to the UN and Hon. Dr. Ioana Costache, Consul General of Romania in New York this special occasion was marked by a record participation of over 25 of our New York members and spouses. Among them, Valentin Pipa, Mike Chiriac, Andre Cappon, Liviu Goldberger, Yanni Deconescu, Ana Lita, Cristina Minovici and the hosts of the event, Dr. Mihaela Vladutiu and Dr. Vlad Vladutiu.

Just back from Romania where Mr. Turner met with President Iohannis and Prime Minister Ciolos, the congressman sheared with the audience his new experiences with the country’s government, but also talked about the military exercises that he attended on the outskirts of Bucharest. “The threat from Russia is real, just like Romania’s commitment to peace and security in the region” Mr. Turner commented. ” We are dealer grateful for your country’s support and partnership and look forward to a long-lasting relationship with Romania” – he added.
