Dana Bucin is an attorney practicing Immigration and International Business law and a partner at Updike, Kelly & Spellacy, P.C., a law firm affiliated with Meritas law firms worldwide, which maintains offices in over 80 foreign countries, including Romania.

As an immigration attorney, Ms. Bucin represents both businesses and individual clients with green card applications, work visas, entrepreneurial/ foreign investor visas, naturalization, and various other business-based, employment-based, and family-based immigration matters. The combination of practicing both Immigration Law and Business Law provides her with an optimal skill set which enables her to represent foreign students, entrepreneurs, investors, and business professionals not only with their immigration options but also with their business or corporate set-up.

Ms. Bucin is no stranger to entrepreneurial activity. Along with her Entrepreneurship Foundation teammates she submitted a proposal to the City of Hartford as part of the federal SC2 Challenge to encourage immigrant entrepreneurship locally, which won a $75,000 prize in 2015. She is a founding member of the Central and East European Network (CEENET), a professional organization that facilitates business matches between Connecticut companies and Central and East European companies.

She serves on the Hartford Board of the CrossRoads Venture Group and the Executive Committee of the International Business Council of the MetroHartford Alliance, and has been the Chair of the World Affairs Council of CT, Young Professionals. She is a frequent speaker on the topic of immigrant entrepreneurship.

Ms. Bucin is fluent in Spanish, French, and Romanian, and has a basic knowledge of Italian, German, Hungarian and Latin. In 2016 she was honored as an "Immigrant of the Year" along with 12 other honorees from Connecticut at the annual CT Immigrant and Refugees Coalition. She has been listed as a 2013 SuperLawyer by the SuperLawyers Magazine, a 2012 New Leader in the Law by the Connecticut Law Tribune, a 2011 and 2012 Rising Star by the SuperLawyers Magazine and among the 2010 Women in the Law High Achievers by the Connecticut Law Tribune. For her leadership within the Greater Hartford Community, Ms. Bucin was honored as a "40 Under Forty" award recipient by the Hartford Business Journal in 2009.

Ms. Bucin is admitted to the bar in the State of Connecticut, State of New York, Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the District of Columbia. She received her J.D. from Boston University School of Law, during which time she studied abroad at the Universit√© Jean Moulin Lyon III, Institut de Droit Comparé, Lyon, France. Ms. Bucin obtained her B.A., summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Ohio Wesleyan University.
