RABC Pledges Full Support for US Ambassador Nominee Adrian Zuckerman

June 11, 2019

The Romanian American Business Council has championed the nomination of the first native Romanian to serve as U.S. ambassador in Romania. After an effort that started back in January of 2017, where several names and personas were considered, the candidate selected was Mr. Adrian Zuckerman, a seasoned real estate attorney with extraordinary management and legal expertise.

Adrian Zuckerman was born in Bucharest and immigrated to the U.S at the age of 10. He is both fluent in Romanian and is familiar with Romania’s history, politics and culture. Mr. Zuckerman was nominated by President Donald J. Trump to be the U.S. Ambassador to Romania on July 8, 2018. He is a graduate of both MIT (1979) and New York Law School (1983) and is currently a partner of Seyfarth Shaw LLP. His practice focuses on the development, acquisitions and dispositions, commercial lending, co-op and condominium conversions, commercial leasing, and healthcare real estate. He successfully represented his client in the seminal Visual Artists Rights Act (VARA) case of Carter v. Helmsley Spear Inc., argued in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and testified before Congress on VARA. Mr. Zuckerman is also a member of the board of Kids Corp., a non-profit organization that supports underprivileged children in Newark, New Jersey, and serves on the alumni board of New York Law School. During our confirmation campaign the board of RABC worked diligently with members of the US Congress from both sides of the aisle, including US representatives Mike Turner (R-OH) and Congressman Dan Lipinski (D-IL), the co-chairs of the Romanian Caucus, as well as senators Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Mike Rounds (R-SD), Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Marc Rubio (R-FL), Cardinal Timothy Dolan of New York and several leaders of the Romanian Orthodox Church.

One of the top priorities of the new U.S. Ambassador to Bucharest will be to strengthen the defense and national security of Romania, the staunchest U.S. ally in South Eastern Europe. Other critical primacies include healthcare, education, and infrastructure, all of which remain to be sustained by a far greater U.S. presence and investment in the country.

Mr. Zuckerman will be our guest of honor at the board of directors meeting on July 12th at our offices in NYC.
