RABC Hosts Official Romanian Delegation

On May 17th through May 20th, the RABC leadership hosted a delegation of Romanian mayors and officials from Romania - including the Governor of the Ilfov County, Mr. Marian Petrache. Among the participants were:
Robert Negoita- Mayor District 3 City Hall of Bucharest, Vasile Paval - Mayor, City of Vaslui, Nicolae Barbu - Mayor, City of Giurgiu, Constantin Ionica - Mayor, City of Pitesti, Ovidiu Cretu - Mayor of Bistrita, Viorel Ionescu - Mayor City of Hirsova, Teodora Marin - Public Administrator City of Ploiesti, Mihai Culeafa - Deputy, Ioan Mihalcea, Elena Buzatel - Mayor Advisor City of Ploiesti and Laura Popescu, Managing Director AMR.
The high-level meetings included a visit to Brooklyn Federal Court where they met the Honorable Robert Levy, Federal Magistrate of the Eastern District and two of the top District Attorney from the Federal Court.
The two-hour long discussion was focused on the Rule of Law and corruption in Romania and the United States, the American Judicial System, a comparison between the Penal Codes of the two countries and other issues related to State and Federal legislation. Judge Levy is a well-known magistrate in the US Federal Court system and has travelled to Romania for more than twenty times since 1974. The meeting was by all accounts successful and illuminating for both parties.
The following day, on Wednesday afternoon, the Delegation visited the Lenox Hill Greenwich Village Hospital where they were greeted by Dr. Alex Hellinger, the General Director of this facility. This establishment is part of the Northwell Healthcare Systems and has twenty-three hospitals, sixty-six thousand employees and annual revenues of over seven billion dollars. The Romanian delegation was presented with a comprehensive review of the American Medical System in New York and how the Northwell Health Model operates on the East Coast of the United States. It was agreed during the meeting that an exchange program between Northwell and various Romanian hospitals could be developed, to include telemedicine and an affiliation with select hospitals in Romania.
At the request of RABC President Stefan Minovici, the Romanian politicians were received Thursday afternoon, on May 18th, by H.E. Dr. Ioan Jinga, the Permanent Representative of Romania to the UN. Ambassador Jinga spoke with the Mayors and Governors about his efforts to promote the geopolitical interests of Romania into the Universe of the United Nations membership and with the focus on integrating Romania as one of the members of the Security Council in the year of 2020-2021. The meeting was attended by several members of Mr. Jinga’s staff.
A select number of the Romanian Delegation also attended the XIX Edition of the Romanian Festival on Broadway on Sunday, May 20th.
